A curious fact about the Prime Tower
A curious fact about Zurich’s Prime Tower is that its construction led to the discovery of an ancient archaeological site. During the demolition of the former Hürlimann brewery, archaeologists uncovered Roman remains, including a wall and building foundations dating back to the 3rd century.
These discoveries were preserved and highlighted as part of the Prime Tower construction project. A section of the Roman wall was incorporated into the building’s base, visible from the street. Additionally, archaeologists were involved in designing the skyscraper’s foundations to protect the archaeological remains and ensure their long-term conservation.
The Prime Tower is thus an example of how modern architecture can coexist with historical and cultural heritage, and how the preservation of these remains can be integrated into the design and construction of new buildings.
